How to Play Word Solitaire

wordtuck plays like a small Spider Solitaire table, but the cards are words. Build a continuous run of words that belong together, then move the whole run onto a matching word or into an empty column.

Move a matching run

Select an uncovered card to move it with the matching cards beneath it. Uncovering cards is part of the puzzle; a useful move often matters more than a quick collection.

Collect by category

Each open category shows the minimum number of matching cards you must bring together before collecting. Gentle starts at one, Thoughtful at two and Challenging at three. When fewer matching cards remain in the whole puzzle, the last batch may be smaller. Complete an open category to unlock another.

Deal a new row

Click the deck to deal one new card onto each of the four columns, even if a column is empty. A deal can cover a run you wanted to move, so look for useful rearrangements first.

Take your time

Free puzzles allow Undo, Restart and word clues. Every published starting layout has a verified route to completion, though individual moves can lead to a blocked position. The guided tutorial teaches each action by letting you perform it.
